6 signs your Aircon needs a service or repair

Not everyone knows when their air conditioner needs to be serviced and even, despite some fairly obvious signs, when it needs to be repaired. Servicing needs to be done on a regular basis. Most reputable aircon companies will recommend servicing at least twice a year and if this is carried out, chances are that the unit will not need repair in between services.
There are always exceptions though and weird things that can happen, so just in case you haven’t been getting your unit serviced or the unusual happens, here are 6 signs your airconditioner needs a service or repair. Before any major damage is done, call a reliable aircon service provider if you notice any of these ominous symptoms:
1. Your air conditioner isn't producing any cool air
Although they are also heaters, the primary function of any air conditioner is to cool the air. If the air is not cooling down, especially when you have set the unit at its coldest setting – it’s simply not working properly!
2. The air is not flowing through the air conditioner
Air conditioners have a fan function that ensures air flows and moves around the room. If the fan visibly stops moving, or you simply can’t feel air flowing from the unit, it’s in need of repair.
3. The air conditioner smells
Any untoward odours usually indicate something is burning ...or something has entered the unit that shouldn’t have been there!
4. The air conditioner is noisy
As beautiful and efficient as they are, aircons are not designed to produce sound – of any kind. Again this could be a sign of worn out or out of place parts, or once again possibly a live invader.
5. There are thermostat problems
Every air conditioning unit has a thermostat to control temperature. When degrees of temperature are not being achieved the likelihood is that there is a problem with the thermostat.
6. There’s moisture on your air conditioner
Moisture anywhere that it shouldn’t be, can be one of a few different problems, but whatever it may be, it is not a good sign. Have it checked immediately.
